Student research assistant in Cognitive and Decision Science

The Chair of Cognitive Science is looking for a student research assistant to work on a project to be conducted in collaboration among three chairs at the ETH Zurich. The project investigates the relation between choice architectures and user’s willingness to share their private data, such as non-functional cookies, with online media providers. This international project is based on the legal interpretation of the European regulation regarding data protection and data sharing. The investigation will be based on an international survey implemented in Qualtrics and analysed using statistical tools such as R. The project lasts from August 2024 until the end of December 2024.
Job description
Main tasks of the successful candidate would involve collaborative work on designing the survey, implementing the survey in Qualtrics, proof-reading of translated surveys and data analysis. All work will be conducted in an interdisciplinary team of the ETH Zurich researchers. The student will have the opportunity to learn about conducting a scientific research project, improve the skills necessary for conducting research and to engage in a highly dynamic and thought-provoking work environment. This assignment is paid according to the standard rates of 30.7 Swiss francs/h with the possibility to work full-time during the semester break and working up to 15h/week during the semester. Most of the meetings will be virtual. Therefore, physical presence in Zurich is not mandatory.
Profile
We are looking for a Master student in psychology, cognitive science or a related field with knowledge and experience in implementing online studies in Qualtrics. The ideal candidate would have some experience in advanced statistical analysis and data processing using tools such as R or similar. Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of other European languages, in particular German, French, Spanish, Nordic languages, languages spoken in the EU Balkan countries, are a plus. Given the general regulation of the ETH Zurich, a candidate must be currently enrolled as a student at a Swiss university. The candidate does not need to be located in Zurich, but they must be located in Switzerland.
