The Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation at ETH Zurich's Department of Management, Technology, and Economics, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Georg von Krogh, invites applications for a PhD position. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in research aimed at addressing contemporary challenges in management and organizational theory.

Job description

Project and Supervision: The selected PhD candidate will embark on a research project culminating in a dissertation of at least three high-quality papers intended for top-tier journals. Co-supervision will be provided by Prof. Georg von Krogh, Dr. Ann-Kristin Weiser, and a team of senior researchers at SMI. Expected starting time: Q4 2024.

Your profile

  • A Master’s degree (MSc, MA, or MPhil) in Business Administration or a related field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Engineering). Note: MBAs are not eligible
  • Demonstrated interest and capability to conduct qualitative research, evidenced by previous work, such as an outstanding Master's thesis
  • Experience in field research and strong competencies in business-centric practices and stakeholder management
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • A strong desire to contribute to the academic discourse and develop further one’s research skills, alongside curiosity, self-direction, and a propensity for teamwork
