Research Assistant for Research on Learning and Instruction

10%-20%, Zurich, fixed-term

The Professorship for Research on Learning and Instruction at ETH Zurich strives to discover effective, evidence-based ways to improve educational practice with an eye towards generalizable principles across content areas and issues of societal relevance.

The group is looking for a research assistant who will support members of the group in their research, including data collection and analysis. Currently, we are looking for someone for a specific project (see task description). However, we are open (and would welcome) to collaborate beyond this project.

Job description

  • Qualitative data analysis of video recordings. You will analyse segments of spoken language and gestures for non-literal use of language describing imperceptible concepts in chemistry
  • Support in data collection

Profile

  • You have solid chemistry knowledge at high school level or higher.
  • You are a student at ETH or UZH (in any field).
  • You speak German at C1 level.
  • You are motivated to learn about research methods in educational psychology.
  • Finally, no prior experience with qualitative data analysis or data collection is expected
