IT System Engineer

20%-40%, Zurich, fixed-term

The ETH Zürich — PSI Quantum Computing Hub was set up to address long-standing challenges in quantum computing, developing new technology and approaches that will benefit from a coherent, farsighted vision, and provide services to the quantum community through collaborations with academia and industry. It consists of two laboratories specializing in the two leading quantum computing platforms, superconducting circuits and trapped ions. The teams at PSI work closely with the Quantum Device Lab (Prof. Andreas Wallraff) and Trapped Ion Quantum Information group (Prof. Jonathan Home), who conduct state-of-the-art experimental research in quantum information science at ETH Zurich and have a long track record in developing and operating quantum computing systems. The strong synergies between the experience and infrastructure at ETH and the novel approach at PSI, contributing to its expertise in managing and engineering large-scale user facilities, benefit both efforts.

Project background

At Ion Trap Quantum Computing group, we are working multiple quantum information processing platforms. The experimental setups are mostly designed and built by academic staff members. The engineering team on the other hand is working on providing a reliable infrastructure to host said experiments while also developing the in-house control system.
